Picture of 2 blue threaded screws behind the battery compartment.
1.2 Remove the 17 red threaded screws first. Then there are 2 blue threaded screws above the battery compartment.
1.3 Once all screws have been removed, the memory and hard drive covers can be removed and the optical drive can be pulled out. Replacement optical drives can be found here.
1.4 Under the optical drive are 3 flat silver screws that need to be removed.
1.5 The hard drive can be removed by lifting on the tab. The DV6000 uses an adapter between the hard drive and the interface on the motherboard which can be removed if the drive is being replaced. Replacement hard drives for this model laptop can be found here.
1.6 Under the memory cover and hard drive there are 2 screws and 2 mounting screws that need to be removed.
1.7 Remove the memory by pushing out the clips on each side of the memory modules. The RAM will then pop up and can be taken out. Replacement memory for this laptop can be found here.
1.8 Unclip the two antenna connected to the wireless card and remove the screws to be able to remove the card. Replacement wireless cards for the DV6000 series can be found here.
Step 2 - Removing the power/media button cover and keyboard.
2.1 Gently pry the power/media button cover upwards. There will be three cables attached to it that can be removed. Replacement cover can be found here.

Extras and Compatibility
The DV6000 series comes in many different configurations. From the outside they generally look identical but on the inside there are a few major differences that can affect compatibility if the incorrect part is purchased. Below are some examples and part numbers of certain parts for this series that need to be purchased by the part number.
Below is a picture of 4 different motherboards. There are 2 Intel and 2 AMD versions with the part numbers 436449-001, 434723-001, 446476-001 and 4364499-001 (clockwise from top left to bottom left).
Clicking the thumbnail will show a larger picture. The two AMD motherboards on the left are very similar, the only difference is the Nvidia chipset which requires the different heatsink.
The two Intel motherboards on the right show a major difference in the heatsink. The 446476-001 has a dedicated graphics chip which requires an attachment to the normal heatsink to keep it cool, it also has an HDMI port on the left which the other 3 do not.
